Abstract
Common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) is one alternative that can be chosen as source of natural antioxidant because it contains flavonoid compounds that have the ability as an antioxidant. However, due to solubility problem, then the extract would be developed in SNEDDS (Self-nanoemulsifying Drug Delivery System) preparations. The research was done to know the results of antioxidant formulation and activation test of common bean SNEDDS using Virgin Coconut Oil as its oil phase. SNEDDS formulation was done by determine the composition of surfactant, co-surfactant, and oil. Then Extract loading test, clarity and stability test, emulsification time were done, while the characterization of nanoemulsion droplets was obtained by the measurement of nanoemulsion droplets. Then antioxidant activation test of common bean extract SNEDDS was done using DPPH method. In this research obtained optimal formula with VCO 1: 5(Tween 80: propylene glycol 1:3) composition that produces clear view with 96.33±0.26 transmittan, 20mg/ml extract loading, emulsification time on aquadest, AGF, and AIF are 5.6±5.28 seconds, 6.6±1.61 seconds, 10.3±2.65 seconds in sequence, nanoemulsion size on aquadest is 228.7 nm with 0.676 PI. Whereas the 686.5µg/mL common bean SNEDDS antioxidant power is categorized as weak compared to 7.9µg/mL positive control (BHT) that categorized as strong. So it can be concluded that common bean SNEDDS has antioxidant effect but still categorized as weak
