Abstract

Chemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) is the amount of oxygen used to decompose organic substances in water chemically. The higher the BOD, the higher the oxygen needed to decompose water or the higher the BOD, the worse the water condition. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of river water pollution with the parameter measured was Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD). The test results at the four sample points are as follows: Mine I : 37.3 mg/L, 33.8 mg/L, 33.8 mg/L and 38.8 mg/L, Mine II : 12.2 mg/L, 5.27 mg/L, 3.00 mg/L and 8.73 mg/L. The test results for the COD parameter have a value that does not exceed the standard water quality standard for Class IV PP No. 82 of 2001. Meanwhile, when compared with the maximum value of COD according to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001, 5 points of collection which indicate COD levels exceed the specified quality standard are 10 mg/L and 3 points of collection which indicate COD levels according to PP No. standards. 82 of 2001.
