Abstract
Diabeetikum ulcer is a part of complication of diabetes mellitus as the effect of the damage of nerve and blood vessels. Amputation action may make self-concept disorder of patients such as depression. Word Health Organization (2015) stated that diabetes mellitus is chronic disease caused either by hereditary disease or by the lack of insulin production by pancreas. The prevalence of patents with diabeetikum ulcer in indonesia is 80% with the risk of amputation up to 30%. Diabeetikum ulcer is the main reason for patients’ hospitalization (Suistyowati,2015). Depression had big effect on self-concept of patients with diabeetikum ulcer. This research is aimed at determining the correlation between self-concept of patients with diabeetikum ulcer and level of depression in inpatient room of District Hospital of Mataram.The research is correlation analytic study with cross-sectional approach. The populations were 100 patients with diabeetikum ulcer from which 82 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. The data were collected throung questionnaires and analyzed with chi-square. The research showed that p-value is less than a proving that there is correlation between self-concept of patients with diabeetikum ulcer and level of depression in inpatient room of District Hospital of Mataram.It is inferred that self-concept is negative and level of depression is high. It is suggested that hospital as institution improve the self-concept of patients and reduce the level of depression of patients with diabeetikum ulcer in District Hospital of Mataram.
